Explanation

The Lord is far from the wicked,
but He hears the prayer of the righteous.
Proverbs 15:29 |
You need righteousness to be
effective in prayer. Righteousness is not a
behavior, it comes from faith in God. See the

But you, when you pray, go into
your inner room, and when you have shut your
door,pray to your Father who is in secret, and
your Father who sees in secret will repay you.
Matthew 6:6 |
Praying is a private comunication
with God. It is most effective when done in
private, with no one knowing about it.Shut the
door even when no one is around. |
Therefore I say to you, all
things for which you pray and ask, believe that
you have received them and they shall be granted
you.

To get the thing you ask for you
have to believe it is coming to you. See the page

Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everthing by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present you requests to God.
Phillipians 4:6 |
You are supposed to pray about
things that are making you anxious. But also
being thankful, Thankful God is on your side and
is hearing you and will help you. |
And whenever you stand praying,
forgive, if you haveanything against anyone; so
that you Father also who is in heaven may forgive
you your transgressions.
But if you do not forgive, neither will your
Father who is in heaven forgive your
transgressions.

I take this to mean that if you
are not forgiving others then you are not
forgiven for your sins. Also if you still have
sin, there is a good chance God is not wanting to
answer your unclean prayer. So you need to be

And when you are praying, do not
use meaningless repetition, as the Gentiles do,
for they suppose they will be heard for their
many words.
Therefore do not be like them; for your Father
knows what you need before you ask Him

God knows what you need and want.
He wants you to ask but not nag Him. There is
plenty to pray about, God is not deaf, but maybe
he will stop listening until you have something
new to say. |
And the prayer offered in faith
will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord
will raise him up, and if he has committed sins,
they will be forgiven him.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and
pray for one another that you may be healed. The
effective prayer of a righeous man can accomplish
much.
James 5 :15,16 |
Here we are told to pray for sick
people, with Faith, and here it is again about
forgiveness of sins. Although righteousness comes
from faith, I believe it is also needed to have
your sins forgiven to be effective in prayer. |
